Getting a P8Z68-V PRO for the Sata 6Gb/s

    Hello!

I've recently ordered all my components, but I've come across a thing concerning the hard drive(s).
Currently, I've ordered a P8Z68-V (not PRO) as my motherboard. It comes with two 3Gb/s and two 6Gb/s ports (SATA, obviously). I'm considering changing the order to a P8Z68-V PRO (which has two 6Gb/s SATA ports more than the non-PRO), for the two reasons listed below:

I've also ordered a Vertex 3 120GB SSD (Boot Drive), a WD 2TB Caviar Green ("Current" Main Storage Drive) and a WD 500GB Caviar Green (Backup Drive).
Currently, there's not really a problem with the SATA ports. That's simply a matter of plugging the SSD and the 2TB into the two 6Gb/s SATA ports, and letting the Backup Drive plug into the 3Gb/s.
The thing is, I'm going to be doing some gaming and quite possibly some video editing, so I have an interest in getting a 1TB Black, for recording footage onto, as well as having games on there. The problem then is, that I might want to have that plugged into a 6Gb/s also - which is not possible on the P8Z68-V, unless I plug the 2TB Green into the remaining 3Gb/s.

Another reason I've considered getting the PRO, is for the internal eSata port. I'd then buy an Antec Easy SATA (hotswap for optical drives bays), and stick the backup drive in there, so I'd have another place for that drive, in case of system failure.
Bear in mind that I've also considered getting a WD Passport 500GB, which could possibly replace the current 500GB Internal Backup drive.

Whoa, that was a lot of text. I hope you stayed with me, and can give me an answer to the question(s):
    Should I upgrade the P8Z68-V, to a P8Z68-V PRO?
Should I get an external backup drive instead of an internal one?

The thing is unless your getting a SATA 3 SSD, a regular HDD wont saturate the 6Gb/s port's bandwith, thus being pointless to plug in any mechanical HDD into a 6Gb/s unless you just have the extra port being unused. I would just save your money and go with the regular version. Also, I have the P8Z68 you are posting about in my system, its a great mobo.

Ah, good to know I've made a good purchase .
I'm still wondering if I should get an external harddrive, instead of an internal, for backup.

Vertex 3 is SATA III as Hasoonie17 said plug the other HDs into the SATA II slots I found its better to keep all the Drives inside the case as they seem to do better if you have the room and 1 less thing on your desk.

I used to run external backups but recently converted to internal mirrors. It saves the hassle of dealing with the external drive and still provides some portability as you can pull a mirror out and take it elsewhere. If you want easier portability you can look for a hot swap cage as well.
