    Motherboard problems with audio

Hey, when i plug my mics in, i can hear sound fine but it wont pic up any sound, it doesn't even recognize it as a mic, its a new custom build computer. Do i need to update my drivers, if so, how can i do this?

EDIT: When i put my headphones into the computer it plays sound through both my speaks and the headphones.

Yeah, it's probably a good idea to update the drivers. Try that and let me know if it works.

I downloaded the latest Audio driver and i still have the problem.

Recently since i updated the drive i got a blue screen with white text on it, this is the first time it has ever happened, I think this is what came up, it only flashed up for a few seconds then rebooted my PC, at the time i was on the internet listening to the radio.

Try going into sound settings and changing your default recording devices to the microphone that you plugged in. If you don't see it there, did you plug your microphone into the correct jack on the soundcard? Also does the software come with a utility?

Also, did it bluescreen just once or does it do that regularly?

Oh ok. By soundcard i meant onboard sound. Is everything properly hooked up? Microphone into the red colored jack?

Hmm... ever figure out the microphone issue? Have you set your microphone as the default device on sound settings?

I'm not having any luck, yes the mic is the default device on the sound settings.

Ive had loads of on-board sound devices fail on me. Best to just buy a PCI soundcard.
