Best Laptop for School: $800 - $1,000

I'm starting college soon and just like the title says i'm looking for a new laptop that will be good for taking to classes. My preferred budget on the laptop $800 but I can go max of $1,000 if it ends up being that much.

I'm looking at this hp. Is it any good?

That's not a bad laptop (albeit a bit expensive, I think). What do you plan to use the laptop for? Solely for school work or do you want something that can play games as well? Also, do you plan to do any graphic or video editing such as photoshop or premier? Details!
