AMD FX-8350, MSI GeForce GTX 670, Azza Hurrican 2000R - System Build - PCPartPicker - You could switch out the GPU to the 7950 if you desire.

Any reason you must go with AMD?
Re-use your HDD to save some money.
The Corsair SP2500s are probably one of the best speaker systems for $250.

I don't know a lot about monitors, but CNET reviews a ton of them. Go over there and select the one that fits your needs.

eBombzor's build is definitely pretty good. Any reason why you wanna go with an AMD proc? The Dec 2012 build will do pretty much everything you're looking for. TBH if you've got more than $1,000, my general recommendation is an Intel setup.

I've got recommendations on monitors and speakers on the article as well. The Corsair SP 2500s are definitely sweeet, but yeah they are ultimately $222. If you don't mind a bass heavy set, check out the Logitech Z623. Fantastic speakers for the price, but a little heavy on the bass.

FX 8350 is a very good choice of CPU, and has recently been found to beat Intel CPU's in most games! AMD FX 8350 vs Intel 3570K vs 3770K vs 3820 - Gaming and XSplit Streaming Benchmarks - YouTube
And if you like to Overclock, here is the FX8350 beating a 3570K AMD FX 8350 OC vs i5 3570k OC Using an EVGA GTX 670 - YouTube

With 1500$ i would get a 7970 GHz edition, it goes toe to toe with a 680 and beats it in most cases, yet is a lot cheaper.

i was told AMD is the gaming choice, that's really about it. so i figured if it is then the 8350 with a decent graphics card (also from AMD since they work good together) wouldn't let me down. My old rig is being sold so there's nothing i can take from there. This will be my first build, my last build was just an upgrade. CPU will be water cooled, and i am loving the fast feedback and advice here.

    League of Legends
    Guild Wars 2
    Combat Arms
    mainly.
I like to record my games and do minor editing on Vegas, so anyone know a build that can handle this?

The AMD FX 8350 is great for gaming and video editing and a radeon hd 7970 or radeon hd 7950 is more than enough to handle the games you just listed, you should go amd with the 8 core as well because the upcoming consoles are amd based so you are going to get better performance.

When it comes to CPUs, either AMD or Intel works great for gaming. These days, gaming at resolutions higher than 1280x1024 is generally highly graphics dependent, so you're looking at the graphics card rather than the CPU. That said, AMD also manufactures graphics cards as well, so I'm not sure if you're referring to wanting an AMD CPU or an AMD GPU or both... so I went with both an AMD CPU and GPU.

I priced this setup out at $1,325.32 minus a whole bunch of rebates. If it's overbudget, you can go with a smaller SSD such as the 120GB model or just forego it altogether. That said, I would recommend you have a SSD as a boot drive since it's much, much faster than the hard drive. Should do what you need it to do in terms of gaming and record/editing.

As far as a monitor goes, you can go with something like the ASUS VS247H-P. Brings the total to around $1,504.31 minus some rebates. After that, it's really up to you on the speakers. A couple sets were recommended up top, but it depends on what kind of music you like and how hardcore you are about your audio.

    Hope it helps, bro.

Instead of worrying about playing video games, I suggest that you pay more attention in school and learn to speak English.
